About Operation Doula

Operation Doula is committed to providing positive, continuous, non-medical labor support to military families at any birthing location in San Diego County at no cost. Our professional doulas volunteer their time and talent to give back to military families as they welcome their babies into the world. Our goal is a positive birth experience where families feel safe, respected, heard, and supported. Doulas provide emotional, physical, and informational support and remain with you until your baby is born. Doula support has been shown to improve birth outcomes.

Operation Doula’s mission is to provide doula support to military families in the San Diego region. At Operation Doula, we believe every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Our professional volunteer doulas are dedicated to providing military families non-medical support at no cost.

As a retired Navy SEAL, I’ve survived more than 70 gunfights throughout my 20-years of faithful and honorable service to this country, and not one of those gunfights scared me as much as I was scared for my wife and daughter during my wife’s labor. Our Doula was amazing, not only did she provide us with training and support prior to my wife going into labor, but once my wife began labor at the hospital, our Doula was there, supporting the three of us non-stop.
